Stephanie Lepp

(*1980, Spielberg/Germany), versatile flute player and award winner of the German national competition “Jugend Musiziert 1998”. She graduated from the “Hochschule für Musik Köln”, being a student of Robert Winn and Thaddeus Watson. Her teachers Berthild auf dem Kampe, Berten d’Hollander as well as Mario Caroli influenced her decisively. She participated in numerous master-classes with Aurèle Nicolet, Mike Mower, Jörg Widmann and Jorge Pardo among others and the composers Michael Daugherty as well as Eduardo Lorenzo gave her artistically advice.
She was a scholarship-holder of “IEMA 2009 (International Ensemble Modern Academy)”, “Centre Acanthes 2006” and “Yehudi Menuhin-Foundation LiveMusicNow Cologne”, where she gave numerous concerts for social institutions.
Her musical activities lead her all around Europe. Among others, she played concerts in the “Kammermusiksaal Beethovenhaus, Bonn” and went on concert-tour to Turkey, following invitations by the “Deutscher Musikrat” as well as the “Goethe-Institut”.
As a soloist she participated and participates in different festivals like “Art Cologne 2006”, “International Gaudeamus Music Week 2008”, Amsterdam, “Klangspuren Schwaz 2009”,  “Musik in den Häusern der Stadt 2010”, or “Klangvisionen-Festival Köln 2010” there together with Markus Stockhausen and Tara Bouman, among others.

Since being nominated for the prestigious “Gaudeamus Prize 2008”, Amsterdam with her own solo-improvisation, Stephanie Lepp is intensely following through improvisation and intuitive music. Therefore she is receiving valuable impulses from Markus Stockhausen.

Her interest in non-European music and world-music led to an intense musical exchange with the Indian master of the bansuri (bamboo flute) Dinesh Mishra from whom she is learning the art of bansuri-playing, since 2010.

Stephanie Lepp plays a silver flute by Brannen-Cooper with headjoint made by Robert Winn, an alto flute by Kotato&Fukushima a piccolo by Anton Braun and bansuri flutes made by Mukund Lekurwale.
